NBL 0-4-0
North British Locomotive Co 0-4-0 Shunter

D2767 was one of a series built by the North British locomotive company at their Queens Park Works in Glasgow in 1960. This particular locomotive was released to traffic on the 17 of August 1960 and lasted only 7 years before withdrawal. It spent its entire short life allocated to Eastfield Depot.........more
EE Class 08
English Electric 0-6-0 Shunter

Built in 1958, 08 443 has spent its entire working life in Scotland at a variety of different depots. It was sold by BR in 1985 to Scottish Grain Distillers at Cambus and was subsequently donated to the SRPS in 1993 when rail traffic ceased. ........more

 

 

EE Type 1
English Electric Type 1

D8020 was the third main line diesel acquired by the SRPS and was purchased in 1992 when British Rail put a large number of redundant Class 20 locos up for sale. It was bought from Toton with the aid of a grant from the Royal Scottish Museum, but had unfortunately undergone some minor component recovery. It moved North to MC Metals for asbestos clearance and eventually arrived at Bo'ness in 1992.........more
BR Class 25
BR Class 25 Type 2

25 235 was the second main line diesel loco purchased by the SRPS. It was withdrawn in March 1985 and was dumped in Bescot Yard, until put up for sale in April 1990. The loco was in very poor condition following 5 years of open storage, but the only major missing item was the turbocharger, along with numerous smaller items. As these were all readily available from MC Metals, and it was the only unsold Type 2 remaining with dual brakes and a steam heating boiler, a successful bid was made.........more
BRCW Class 27
BRCW Class 27 Type 2

27 005 was the first main line diesel purchased by the SRPS, late in 1987. It was acquired from Glasgow Works with the aid of a grant made by the then Royal Scottish Musuem National Fund for Acquisitions.The loco had been withdrawn from Eastfield depot in July 1987 with nothing more than a triple pump defect.........more
Brush Class 47
Brush Class 47 Type 4

47 643 was purchased by the SRPS in 1995 after it had been decided the previous year to preserve a Brush Type 4, and because a loco with ETH was required for testing of the society's mainline registered set of coaching stock. 47 643 had been withdrawn back in 1991 with fire damage to the engine room wiring and had been dumped in Millburn Yard, Inverness.........more
Swindon Class 126
Swindon Class 126 Inter-City DMU

The class 126 DMU was built especially for Scottish Region services, and as such hold special interest for the SRPS. All the units spent their entire working lives in Scotland. The unit is the only surviving example in the UK of the higher specification Inter-City type. The centre trailer vehicle is unique in that features both first and second-class compartment accommodation..........more
Pressed Steel Class 303
Pressed Steel Class 303 EMU

During 2003 the society acquired one of the last remaining class 303 sets from Strathclyde (SPT) - the trains which used to be known as "The Blue Trains". These are powered by overhead catenary electric supply and the sets consist of 2 driving trailers at either end with a power and pantograph car sandwiched in the middle.........more
