Engineering

The biggest challenge encountered in railway preservation is sourcing supply of spares to keep the locomotive fleet operational.

With many locos now over forty years old, off the shelf parts simply no longer exist and require to be manufactured from raw materials.

In partnership with the steam locomotive engineering and carriage & wagon departments, we have access to a wide range of machine tools, lathes and milling machinery which, in conjuction with our technical drawing library, allows us to replace damaged and worn out parts.
